Mission Statement

The Edge - challenges the members of the global community to better understand themselves, those around them, and their world by using innovative approaches that educate, inspire, and empower.

Our History

Located at the Freedom Center and Mason’s Prince William Campus in Manassas, Virginia, The EDGE replaces Hemlock Overlook Center for Experiential Education a program previously operated by Mason and the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority at the Hemlock Overlook Regional Park in Clifton, VA.

After 23 years of managing and operating Hemlock Overlook, Mason decided to open its own facility. Through Mason’s Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center and its partnership with Prince William County and the City of Manassas, Mason relocated the program to July 2009 to the Prince William Campus. The EDGE will serve school, corporate, and community clients while facilitating an increase in Mason faculty and student participation by being on campus. Location at Prince William affords all clients convenience access via major transportation arteries along with state-of-the-art indoor education and recreation facilities to compliment the outdoor challenge elements.

The challenge course construction was completed in September 2009 and our first program was held on October 1, 2009. The new challenge course features high and low elements. Several of the elements featured are the Alpine Tower, Total Team Challenge and Team Development Course. The course is located on 15 acres of forest land and along a 1.2 mile meandering walking/running trail.
